Will Amazon.com ever sell the Google Nexus 7 tablet?
(ships and sold by Amazon.com, not a third-party seller)

I'm asking because I have almost $830 in Amazon gift card
balance that's been sitting there for almost a year. Can't
find anything on Amazon that I want...

The real question is how can you not find anything on amazon. They have EVERYTHING.

I am glad someone else asked it because I have around $500 in Amazon Credit as well.

I love Amazon for many things and dislike it for others and have gotten a lot of general credit over the last 2 years.

The real question is how can you not find anything on amazon. They have EVERYTHING.

one reason is that Amazon is required to charge sales tax and lately they don't have the
best prices for some strange reason. (on things as small as dog food, all the way to large
screen TVs)

I would think not with them selling the fire. Also it depends on what state you live in for them charging tax. If they don't ship from your state then they don't charge tax. I ordered some stuff last week and no tax here in nj. But that is changing as nj is getting a amazon warehouse.

We have a few warehouses here in TN now, but Amazon has some deal with the state to not charge sales tax till 2014. Works out pretty good as a Prime customer, I often get stuff in one day without paying the extra $4 for one day shipping.

so what's the consensus?

Yes or no?

The answer is easy. YES. They sell ipads and anything else they can get. They already have cases and accessories for it even.

They want it sold and shipped by Amazon not a random person or company. I have not seen a iPad listed from amazon but then again I never looked that much into it.

I am pretty sure they will at some point.
They sell iPads, and Apple is a direct competitor

Thats weird, I don't think I've ever payed sales tax on amazon. (FL)

There must be an amazon store or location/warehouse in your state.

I've been a Prime member for at least 5 years... Amazon has almost anything....
but I have NEVER seen iPads sold and shipped by Amazon. I'm talking aobut
Amazon, LLC, not some third party seller. I never stood why. The original iPad,
iPad 2, and the newest iPads are hardly competitors of the Kindle Fire. If I had
to guess, I think it's Apple who doesn't want to let Amazon sell iPads. (strangely,
they do let Amazon sell Macbooks and MBA)

Amazon fulfills them even if they don't sell them. They offer them with free Prime shipping also. That tells me Amazon is on board, but Apple may not be. Apple can be funny like that. Amazon and Apple had words over the fees that Apple wanted for the privilege of making an app so there may be bad blood there. Amazon and Google are on better terms since Droid is in the Kindle Fire.

I wonder Google may be the one who doesn't want the Nexus 7 to be sold on Amazon.com? :)

Either way, I think it's kind of pointless. If I'm on Amazon.com and decide to buy a Nexus 7,
the picture of the Kindle Fire isn't going to sway my decision. (and vice versa)

Perhaps the low profit margin of the Nexus 7 is the reason that Amazon won't be selling it.

Third-party, on the other hand, will probably mark it up by $10 or $20, but have the Nexus 7
orders fulfilled by Amazon.
