Will anything not work if using the UNLOCKED (from Samsung) version of the Galaxy Note8 on T-Mobile?

Are there any features/services that will not work (or work as well) with the UNLOCKED version (from Samsung) of the Galaxy Note8 on T-Mobile?

I just today placed an order with Samsung for the unlocked version of the Galaxy Note8. The appeal of no carrier bloatware and potentially quicker updates was appealing. But I've read speculation that wi-fi calling, mobile hotspot, or the native T-Mobile video calling might not work or might not be as fast or work as well with the unlocked model. I've been trying to find a definite answer while there's time to change my order to the T-Mobile version. Does anyone know for certain?

I have the same questions. I have T-Mobile as well but would prefer the unlocked note 8 if Wi-Fi calling works.

I have the exact same situation as OP. I will update you all tonight when I get mine set up. I am more concerned with the visual voicemail not working.

Thank you! Did you get your Note8 and get it all set up? I'm just wondering what you discovered. Many thanks!

That used to be the case but not so much these days, I've had unlocked for my last 5 or 6 phones and not always first to get updated.

So sorry. I finally got the phone set up last night and got to test the features. So far the T-Mobile items that work are wifi calling (it says VoLTE calls in the settings). Visual voicemail and Name ID also works. Mobile hotspot works but not sure the video calling does. Hope this helps and will test some more in the next few days.

This is the first time Samsung released unlocked along with carrier versions and am expecting things to turn around with respect to updates going forward as they don't want carrier to define them like for Apple. I hope this is true.

I have my unlock n8, when you insert TMO card it just turns it to a TMO version so nothing is missing
