Will be a small community?

I mean i know this phone literally just came out, but do anyone else have a hunch this community will be very small considering a lot of people jumped to the Thunderbolt?

Hopefully it will take off. It's a great phone and a really good option for people not in a LTE area yet.

I think we will be. Not many will upgrade from original inc and others will go for lte. I just picked this up today to replace the x which was a little to big. I'm really hoping this phone takes off cause I really think the 4 inch screen is the sweet spot for me. Would like to see many more 4 inch options.

I think it will be small community. Not that the phone isnt great. I actually went to a VZW store on launch day and played with it for a while. Just too bad that its going to get burried. Single core processor, 1 gig of built in memory and worst of all, 3G. Its a great phone, but still last gen hardware. Its bad enough that the top of the line phones will be out dated in a couple of months, its worse when a phone is outdated before it is even released.

I had the TB and it was a piece, sold it and brought an X and returned it for the DInc 2.

I LOVE THIS PHONE!!! The best 3G phone and world phone for Verizon!!! Lets hope it gets some love from the community and does not fade away too fast.

If the Thunderbolt required going to tiered data, I'd have gone for this phone. So maybe those in a 3G area will get it after the tiers are release. Looks like a nice device. Definitely an upgrade from my BlackBerry!

I like that it's a world phone.

I came from an Eris which had a smaller community compared to the Droid, Dream, Hero, etc. and it wasn't that bad. If anything it helped build a real strong core of developers for ROMS since they were so focused on making their personal phone run so well.

I think the fact it's an HTC phone helps a lot.Not sure if the fact it's closely related to the INC S will help or not. This year should still be good for non-LTE smartphones, especially if they start off at the Chrge's price.Another potential plus will be if Verizon switches to tiered LTE data sooner rather than later.

I'll probably be a silent lurker until late summer when I'm allowed to upgrade from my Eris. I can tell you though that a small but passionate community (like the Eris') can be awesome.

Well if we are a smaller community then we'll be a tighter group of friends helping each other! :)

{{GROUP HUG!}}

what lead me to the Inc2 was the legacy of the Inc1 :)

but above that, it was the global capability of this phone + front facing camera. i'm not sure how many of you have tried the droid2 global or droid pro, but they both suck major assss. since the Inc2 is the best world phone verizon has to offer, i imagine there will be a lot of adopters for this reason alone. plus its an HTC quality phone.. over Moto :)

here's to a great community!

i think it would be cool to have a small tight knit community where we mostly know one another and help each other. after being on here for 4 days i already recognize many screen names and thats really cool...

but at the same time i'm preaching to everyone i know to get this phone. so by that logic, if we all do that this community is going to be huge

Yea I think if we talk to some if the thunderbolt developers we can learn something.

The big beef everybody had with the original Dinc was battery life. But otherwise people just loved it. From what I'm reading here anecdotally, the Dinc 2 is a battery champ. With 4G not rolled out in many places, I have to think the Dinc 2 will establish itself as the solid standby of the pack. Users will have updated versions of the X and Droid soon to continue filling the established niches for big and keyboarded, respectively, and there the Dinc 2 will be at the center. Big initial splash or not, I bet it will become a solid draw and that this community will grow steadily.

I'm sitting here with my Thunderbolt battery meter in the red wondering if I should go trade it in for a Dinc 2 tomorrow, the last day in my 14 day evaluation period. The battery seriously sucks. I'm not rooted yet, so I understand there is potential there, but I'd love to just not have to worry about it (not doing the fat battery). I don't even use 4G because it just kills the battery too quickly to be practical. So if I'm not using 4G anyway, I might as well have a Dinc 2, which would be lighter to boot - one of my other dislikes about the TB. I wanted HTC and both are HTC. I'd miss the kickstand and I assume I'd miss the extra 0.3" of screen. But otherwise Froyo with Sense is Froyo with Sense, right? I wanted the TB for so long that it's hard to think about trading it in and giving up on 4G for a contract span. But what's the point if you can't use it? I dunno, I always wanted a Dinc 1 but didn't pull the trigger because of the battery. Ironically now I want the Dinc 2 because I'm stuck with a phone with a bad battery and it's the Dinc 2 that has a good one.

Astrodroid I looked at both phones before I went with the Dinc2. Had same worries you are experiencing. I went with the Dinc2 because its a tad smaller and battery. I won't get 4g till end of year or early next. I'll get a phone in Dec 2012 unless I upgrade paying full price but I'm figuring it will give them plenty of time to work out all the bugs and 2nd generation 4g phones will be rolling out with better hardware.

That's one of the main reason I went with the dinc2 4g will be a huge battery hog until they get to the second gen versions if the chip ill wait it out for a bit and honestly I'm happy with the dinc2 not to big feels good in hand and I haven't seen a hiccup yet

I had the thunderbolt and took it back too because LTE drains the hell out of battery life. 3g, the size, weight and SLCD makes me love this phone more.

Just went and held a Dinc2 in the store. They didn't have a demo unit up and running but pulled one out of the box. So I couldn't fiddle with it but could hold it and compare screen size. It feels great. The weight is so much better. I would miss the bigger screen, but it's not a terrible reduction - it's not iPhone small. I'd miss the kickstand until I forgot about it and reverted to the normal kickstandless understanding of phones. And I'd get all the other good stuff I like about HTC/Android plus great battery life. I wish I had more time.

Just got my friend to go with the incredible 2 over the Thunderbolt

I don't suggest using a task killer. It is a battery killer. I do have the original incredible and love my phone. I do wish they hadn't changed some benefits and features on the upgraded 2 version. But being global is good if you travel outside the US. 3G is solid and they do need to work out the kinks in 4G.
