Will my battery be stuffed?

Hi all,

Need some quick advise here!

I'm looking at buying a 3-4 month old ONE X.
When I went to have a look at the mobile the phone did not turn on at all.
The lady then said she hasn't used it for a couple of months!!!
She hooked it up to the charger and we stood around for about 5-10 minutes
then the charging light started to flash (but phone would still not turn on)

I said to her that I'm not buying the phone as is that I want to see it fully charged
and I want to put my own SIM card in to check that it has not been stolen.
I'll come back tomorrow at lunchtime to have another look.

Phone is in spotless condition, no signs of tampering or having been taken apart
and she seems to have a genuine reason for selling.

My concern now is if the Lithium battery has been FULLY discharged or flat that the battery is stuffed.
(this is the info I got from googling anyway!)

Or having seen the battery start to charge after 5 minutes, is this a sign that all is good and not to worry?

You will need at least one full discharge to have any confidence. Have her fully charge it, put it into Airplane mode, and take a look at it after 8-12 hours of idle. Check the uptime in the battery stats... normal drain should be from 1-3%/hour with airplane mode and no usage, so you will need several hours if idle, or a few hours with use, to have some assurance that battery is fine.

That said, once you can turn it on, the battery stats should tell you if the battery is healthy with a reasonable level of assurance. Given your troubles initially however, I would ask for the above as insurance.
