I'm done with my 2 year contract and my EVO4G has yet to see a a wimax signal. I am now wondering if it ever will. If I had Verizon I would be on LTE where I live. I dont want to get rid of my EVO as it does everything that I want it to, I just would like to get faster speeds when I tether it to my computer in my garage. So switching to Verizon would be a good choice and getting the Nexus would be a good phone. The other half of the problem is Verizon seems to have higher prices then Sprint. The question to be answered is "Is Sprint still adding 4G? or are they saving money for LTE?"

I would imagine that Sprint is done adding 4G towers.

But I'm in the same boat as you. I've had mine since launch, never a 4g signal, but I blame it on where I am located. I'm in podunk Kansas. I never expected to get 4g anyhow.

Sprint is actually in the process of expanding their towers but 4g is limited major cities. I live in north San Diego County and no 4g but I usually have wifi access so it doesn't bother me.

I would check the Sprint website to see if the are building in your area.

Its not Sprint, its Clear Wire that does the WiMax network. Its more them than Sprint.

Mid year 2012 sprint will be putting out lte phones. I would wait and see.

I gave up on Sprint adding more towers for Wimax, it was a waste of money to me paying $10 for 4G and I have to yet to see where I work and live .

Sprint never bothered to upgrade my area to 3G let alone 4G and now they are starting yet another new network build out. Really not impressed with my current situation. If Sprint weren't the cheapest carrier I would have dumped them a long time ago and gone with AT&T or Verizon, both of which have really fast 3G in this area.

That charge was at first, now all smart phones require the $10 charge whether it can use the 4G or not.

This is why I'm ditching Sprint. Just used Amazon to secure me a .01$ (that's one cent) Moto Droid Bionic with Verizon. The bill isn't much more than what you're paying now ($87/month roughly with a $35 activation fee attached to first bill). Verizon is also having a 2x Data plan where you pay, for example 30 bucks for 2GB of data and get another 2GB of data for free. So, 4GB of data for 30 bucks a month for the 2 year contract. I think these deals end come Tuesday, November 29th. Not sure though.

Plus, with about 5 months left in my contract, to get out is only about 120 bucks.

$35.01 to start a new plan with Verizon + $120 to get out of Sprint is far less than paying the last 5 months at close to 90 bucks a month for service that has me roaming in my own home.

Sorry Sprint. I tried to put up with you, but the lies your reps have told me, and how screwed up your infrastructure is just got way too much for me to deal with.
