Will we in the Android world get unified SMS? Something like iMessage. Earlier this year people said the new Hangouts app will get SMS integration but I haven't heard anything about that since.

I am on the GS3 (ATT) and still can't group message on 4.1.2 JB. I heard we will get 4.3 in October and that should fix it, right?

Google needs to step its game up. Too slow.

Google is supposed to implement SMS into Hangout soon, though I don't like Hangout's UI I prefer Handcent SMS so I can customize it (I don't like the bubble chat, I prefer threaded).

I'm praying that it comes SOON! I really like the new UI, it is nice and smooth. They could make it better though.

Not much more to say on the subject; it's all supposed to be folded into Hangouts eventually, but when Google will actually follow through is anyone's guess. I'm with you: the sooner the better.
