Android Central Question

My phone is not charging as quickly as I would like with the Usb cable. If I get a usb C cable with a Usb adapter will this charge me phone any faster or not? Plugging into car for Android Auto using maps

Please provide more details, what phone do you have?
Is your phone an older model with a microUSB port in it or is a newer model that actually does have a USB Type-C port? If the former, no just using a Type-C cable isn't going to make your phone charge any faster -- all things being equal (wire gauge) the difference between a microUSB cable and USB Type-C cable is one has a microUSB plug on one end and the other has a USB Type-C plug on one end. Granted, USB Type-C charging will involve higher levels of current so it is faster but that's an aspect that's in the phone, not the cable.
Not knowing what kind of power adapter you typically plug your phone into nor the head unit specs in your vehicle, the odds are your home power adapter is going to provide more current than a car's USB port, so presumably that's also a no, it won't charge faster in your car.

Basically, stick with a USB cable that's directly compatible with your phone instead of adding in a mix-and-match, jury-rigged set up. Focus more on what kind of power adapter you have. If it's an older one that's just rated at 1 amp/5 volts by a newer one that's at least 2 amps/5 volts.
Also, since you didn't want to reveal what phone you have, that could be part of the problem too. All batteries age and degrade so that's a given. A dated battery won't be able to last as long as it used to, and it will take longer to re-charge itself.

Thanks for answering. I have a new s21fe type c cable. Sorry I didn't think I needed to list my phone

You don't really... Though it's never bad information to include. But a USB adaptor won't help things, if the power supply in your car's USB port isn't very good it isn't very good there isn't much you can do about it. You are better off using a good USB a to USB c cable which I assume you are doing now, than adding an adaptor into the mix.

However, if you aren't using a good quality cable, replacing it may help.

I've had times in my car when I think it barely keeps up for maintaining constant charge level against heavy uage (for example, when significant map/assistant or music app usage).

OK, so a Galaxy S21 SE is a pretty recent release, and its battery is going to take a good amount of power to charge it (it's a respectable 4500mAh battery). So again, it's the phone and the charger you should focus on, the cable is important but more of a secondary aspect. Theoretically your phone's battery will take in 4.5 amps while charging (that's a big simplification), while your typical auto will only provide 1-2 amps of power (also note it's 'dirty' power, the power regulation/filtering components in most car head unit is pretty lax so there's a lot of ampere/voltage variation and electromagnetic interference) and your typical home power adapter will push out 3-4 amps, (unless you have still continue using on older power adapter from an old phone, which may only be rated for 1 amp). This is a generalization but charging your phone at home will be faster than using your car's USB. Use your car when you need to as a convenience measure.
Look at your power adapter that is at home. Somewhere on its side will be a label with all of its specs. It might be on the front, back, or side but it will be there (that's a legal requirement). Along with all the necessary consumer safety certifications will info on things like the input and what you need to look at, the output amperage. It should be at least 2 amps, more is better. If you do have an older one that is 1 amp, that would result in longer charging times.

If what you are saying is that you are attempting to charge your phone using a USB data connection. Are you using a 12 volt power port, which should work fine, or a data connection?

There are definitely car chargers that are built better and will charge faster than others. The top one is plastic and sucks so bad that my phone still dies while plugged in and using it for my music. The bottom one is made of metal and better quality all around. Charges way faster or actually charges it instead of delaying battery drain lol
