Not that there is anything wrong with Android 4.3, was just curious if my new nexus 7 will get upgraded to Android 4.4 when it is released.

Yes, the general rule of thumb is that Nexus devices will get updates for 2 years, if not more. That means even the first gen Nexus 7 will get KitKat.

Yup we will get it no doubt. This is the reason I bought my Nexus 7 and why I will probably buy a Nexus 4 or 5 in the near future and move away from my Galaxy S3.

Yep..I'm going with the next Nexus myself, even though there is absolutely nothing wrong with my One.

My 2 year old galaxy nexus still gets updates... It is a safe bet, like 99.9% that the new Nexus 7 will get the update. The .1% is in case the world ends before kitkat is released.

Same with my HTC EVO 4g LTE.... Thinking of Nexus phone in January, I've had only HTC phones over the past several years and was a bit leary of the change. Still not sure, I guess I'll keep reading AC to make the decision.

I'm in the exact same situation as you, except I'll probably wait out for the N5. I eventually want to go full Nexus. No more of this bloated stuff Samsung sells you.

DITTO! Probably gonna sell my HTC one to get that nexus 5 to go along with my nexus 7.

Why only 2 years?

They may get updates past that, but right now that's about the speed that devices are somewhat outdated, and the features of the OS become too resource-intense for updates to run well on older hardware. There is some rumor that Google is working to streamline Android to work better on older or cheaper hardware, but there's still a point where hardware is old enough that it's either not going to run the latest software well, or it's just not financially feasible for the hardware manufacturers to continue to update the drivers and other software on older devices to work with the latest & greatest.

2 years is pretty good in this industry. There are smart phones that are seemingly forgotten after 6mo-1yr when it comes to updates. It's not like the devices stop working at that point, but the big updates don't keep coming.

No doubt. You will definitely get the update.

Google support Nexus devices OS upgrade for upto 2 years. So just be calm and wait for your kitkat update on the air.
