Will Nexus S pure google ROM ever be possible on Epic?

So the Nexus S hardware easily has a lot of Galaxy people thinking - hey couldn't my handset run that OS... so my question is- where's the discussions about a possible rooted port? After all the Touchwiz hate I see on the boards- I see no one discussing a true "pure Google" Gingerbread port to Galaxy phones.

Clearly there must be a reason- my question is - what is it?

I would think removing touchwiz altogether would greatly accelerate the Galaxy S hardware... no?

CyanogenMod7 Alpha (built from Gingerbread source code) was just released for the Nexus S - hopefully we will get either a port of that, or better yet our own custom build. This is a ways off however.

My buddy is running that Gingerbread build that Cyanogen made for EVO. He said it's running great.
