People will justify the price by using one of the payment plans. Personally I think phone prices are getting into the insane category. I shall be keeping my phones longer than I used to. Not that much new innovations that justify those prices IMHO.

I just did. It was an easy decision. It's got better specs than any phone available, Completely unlocked plus you get Daydream VR included. Goodbye Note 7 and IPhone 7P

I can't justify spending that amount on any phone, that's a month's mortgage and putting food on my kids plates for a couple of weeks.

Even if I had that much disposable income, I wasn't overly impressed, mainly because I think it's quite ugly.

Really the Pixel is a joke of a price for a spec bump. I notice that Google pulls this at least every other year releasing a expensive phone then the following year releasing a cheaper phone. I bet you October 2017 phones will be cheaper again and then I might upgrade.

I forgot about the sales tax.... which Google has to collect, right?
That'll bring the final price to $947 for me. That's almost $1000.

While I don't mind paying for quality, I do mind the resale value.

The 128gb Pixel XL will probably be worth less than $200 in 6
months to a year. (trade-in value)

In contrast, a $1000 top-of-the-line iPhone 7 Plus will be worth
at least $550 after the same amount of time.

I am not saying the phone is trash. It is most likely fast and stuff but compared to the much cheaper 6P most likely not by much. I think the price is high because of the unlimited photo cloud storage. You are paying a premium for that privage so it is not really "free".
