Has anyone tried to go overseas with their Verizon Droid RAZR and tried to use an international SIM card? I heard that with the ICS update, the phone has been unlocked for international use. I am traveling internationally for a month and would rather get a local phone number and sim card to use with my Droid RAZR. Just wondering if anyone had luck in this same scenario.

I am actually currently using it in another country, it works great but there are a few things you need to know. You need the smaller (some places call it iphone) sim card. Need to change wireless to global. And at least in my case for the 3g to work i had to set up the access point which took a few tries, where ever you buy the sim should help you set it up. Also dont throw out the sim card passcode, everytime the phone is turned off you have to unlock the sim again (unless you can change the settings)

Sorry to bump a dead thread but I have an issue that hopefully someone can help me resolve. So I have a RAZR xt912 running on the JB OTA and i live on Guam but I can't seem to get the phone to work with a local sim. I've tried just about everything I can think of but it it just will not connect to the network. It reads the sim operator name and shows the phone number assigned to the sim but but still can't call or text.

there are actually a few ways.

option 1: go to settings, then scroll all the way down to "about phone" then click on "status"

option 2: open the phone dialer and dial *#*#4636#*#* then go to phone information and it should show at the top.

option 3: download and install an app called "Network Signal Info" from the playstore.
