Will rooting fix my reboots after this OTA update?

So, Verizon finally got me a replacement phone that didn't have serious hardware issues, but the OTA is already installed and the reboots started right away. I'm so frustrated. If I root this thing, can I remove the OTA and make it more stable?

If so, what is the best place for instruction and what is the best "rom" to use? I rooted my OG Droid because I just like messing with stuff, but it got very unstable...I don't want that to happen again.

Thanks for the advice guys...

No in a short answer. There is a thread on XDA that has radio combos that people are reporting less reboots or none at all.

I'm running the alpha ginger bread radio with the newest dasbamf, battery life is a lot better and I've had 1 reboot in 2 days

Care to save me hours of digging and point me towards that thread?

I got VZW to send me a new Thunderbolt at the new upgrade price, so I will either sell my current one (the brand new warranty replacement) or keep it as a spare. I'll spend this weekend rooting/playing with the one I'll be sending back to them, unless you guys think that is a bad idea.

Thanks!
