Will sales ban on SGN effect N7?

Why did apple step in when the orginal G1 came out? What's make GN so special and all other android devices be exception to this lawsuit?

I'm not entirely sure why they didn't step in since the beginning. Honestly Android wasn't such a big threat with the G1 and I'm not sure when the patent was actually granted. Keep in mind that these court cases can take several months to complete or go anywhere.

A couple of things make this a major target, 1) its made by Samsung, arguably Apple's No. 1 enemy in the mobile space, 2) its stock Android and Google's flagship

They aren't necessarily making exceptions with other devices, those suits just haven't been brought to fruition just yet. Remember Apple tried to rake in the GS3 as part of the GN case but weren't able to due to potential delays of the trial if they did. I believe Apple is using the same patents against other OEMs in other district courts.

Will this GN patent issue be just a start of a snowball effect for bigger problems to come for Android?

Google needs to talk to Microsoft actually - unified search wasn't just in Palm pilots that had web ability but before that it was in Windows XP and also Pocket PC.

This makes it seem as if apple can just point their finger at any device and say, "I'm going after that one."

Like they have list of target that we don't know why certain targets are on list while others are not. Furthermore why feel they take certain targets at certain times.

Don't forget they just had their entire patent case versus Motorola tossed out of court - so not all judges are fools.

Well Moto also had their case against Apple thrown out as well.

Anyways I think its just an example of you fight the battles you think you can win. If they get their patents validated then it may be easier for them to go after the more high profile devices or they could try to do what they're doing against HTC and try to ban all their Android products from importation.

I don't see how hard it is for a judge to look at the search bar widget in Android, and then look at the Google search field on Google.com and notice that they behave exactly the same. Auto-populating search results as you type, coming from many sources. The widget is an extension of that and has been around long before Siri.

In fact, if I had patent reform *my way* Apple would have said patent taken away from them.

I am just speculating or maybe just wishful thinking but I don't believe we have to worry about the Nexus 7 being banned because apple is tied up with Samsung. However I could be wrong.

Yeah, I I wouldn't worry until Apple files for something regarding the N7 of which there has been no indication yet. But they could be waiting for a precedent to be set at trial before moving forward with other lawsuits.
