Will the HTC One (M8) last me for 24 months from now?

I have just purchased this phone on a 24 month contract, but I am in my cooling off period which to me is 'trial mode'. And while I think the phone is zippy, my concern is because its more open and because its more like a computer then say, an iPhone is, it will slow down over the 24 months and become a not so pleasant device.

My girlfriend had a Nexus S, and after 12 months when ICS came out her phone slowed way down and became unresponsive quite a bit, and I worry the same will happen to my Phone. I never experienced this with iPhone, and so this is the reason for the topic.

Will my HTC One (M8) be just as quick 24 months from now?

Thanks guys

No. It will gum up. Just like every Mac,PC,android and iPhone does after time. And yes I've had all of the above and yes, the iPhone is particular to this malaise esp nr upgrade time.

However, just do as apple tells you to do (factory reset) from time to time and your phone regardless of maker or OS will continue to zip along.

My M7 is zippier and quicker than ever (thanks to KitKat) and I can only imagine Android L continuing in that vein.

Like all things man made. They need attention now and again.
