I know it's bootloader locked, but I can get a deal w/ a family upgrade on Verizon. I would want to actually use the phone on AT&T. Think it'll be carrier locked to Verizon?

It'll probably be SIM-locked if it's subsidized (meaning unless you pay the full retail price up front), so it won't accept an AT&T SIM card. It DOES have the 4G radio AT&T requires, but without the SIM card, that does you no good.

Thanks, that's promising. Seems unlikely the author would slip that in if they hadn't actually heard it directly from a Verizon or Google source.

Verizon sells it factory sim unlocked, even when subsidized. I believe that you do need to activate it on Verizon first though

Verizon doesn't do this. They had an agreement for some spectrum so all their 4g LTE phones are unlocked out of the gate.
