Will we ever see an update? Should I give up hope and go Lineage?

I have a Le 2 and a Le Max 2. AWESOME phones.

But still rocking Marshmallow and seriously bad security patches.

Should I give up faith and just install Lineage?

Normally, we don't recommend people flash custom firmware at the risk of possible security flaws and the risk of breaking their phone(s) due to inexperience.

But given LeEco's troubles, it's not unreasonable to assume that support would have dwindled.

If you're willing to take the plunge, you can check out the XDA forums, but I do highly recommend reading up a lot on the flashing process and understanding the risks and knowing any recovery methods should the worst happen.
