Win/Mac Dex App now available

Sweet! Just installed on my personal Windows gaming laptop. I want to install it on my work laptop too, but it just occurred to me the other day that they block USB devices, so I'm pretty sure this won't work there. Dang, and I was looking forward to being able to send and receive texts on my MacBook keyboard while at work. Oh well.

Cool, now if I only had a phone that I could use it with ;)

What do you guys use as dock? Or just a cable? If I just gonna use a usb c HDMI converter I’m concerned about my battery not being charged.

Also I saw this:
https://www.amazon.de/Samsung-EE-M5...ag=techracom00-21&ascsubtag=UUacUvbUpU6612798

But I’m not sure the note 10+ will fit

You can us a cable and a USB Hub like https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B...ag=hawk-future-20&ascsubtag=UUacUvbUpU6612798. Anker is good at sending coupons if you sign up for their E-mails. Sometimes get as much as 50 percent off.

I have the pad, so ask me in about 12 hours! :D

I'm not convinced the Dex pad can pass data through the USB connection. I tried connection to 2 different laptops through the Dex pad last week and neither pc could see the phone.

The way it sounds, I'm thinking the Dex app connects via USB to the computer and transmits the data for the phone apps as well as allowing you to interface with it via keyboard and mouse. I don't think HDMI can handle any of the data.

Yeah, no idea if you can get a data connection to a laptop. But the Note 10+ does definitely fit. I'm typing this post from DeX, with my new phone in the dock!

could it be a cable issue. some cables only work one direction

and still no linux version ;-(

Yeah that's kind of lame. I'm a programmer so of course love Linux but these days I pretty much exclusively interact with Linux by using my Macbook in a Linux-like fashion, so I'm good. It's ironic though, given that Android OS is Linux-based.

my dex is blurry on my laptop. anyway to adjust the resolution? I have a 4k screen on my laptop

You don't need Dex to text from your computer. One of your QuickLaunch icons is "Link to Windows." On your Windows PC, find the "Your Phone" app and you can set up a link with your phone -- this will allow you to call and text from your PC.

So the Dex pad does not work with the windows share.

But connected by cable, works fine on my work and home laptops. This could be awesome.

I'll just try for the sake of it to see how it looks but isn't something which will be useful to my workflow.

I’m really curious how it works with Citrix workspace. If it does work smoothly I can use it as my daily work device :D

Also I will just hit up a VM with Windows 10 for other stuff OR Linux on Dex.

So much to try out with Dex :D
