Windows lost my Droid 3

Windows 7 32 bit stopped seeing my Droid 3. Have tried different cables and different PCs. Have rebooted PC and pulled battery from phone.. Sometimes when I plug it in, Windows makes that recognition sound but thats as far as it goes. A couple times i got the "One of the USB devices attached to your computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it..." float up. Device Manager shows nothing unusual. Any help would be appreciated.

go to programs and uninstall the driver. now reinstall driver. reboot computer. plug your phone in. bam

I tried it while on a phone call and it worked and is still working after ending the call and disconnecting and reconnecting it from the PC. Go figure. Just for S&Gs, where are you referring to, in apps?
