I have a Windows XP machine and I was able to root my GNex before using it and Cyber Warriors method. Now however I can't install the superboot because it says "waiting for device". I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Samsung and USB drivers over and over again including reboots still no progress.

I can see my phone in windows explorer. I have tried it as both a media device (MTP) and a camera. I have USB debugging turned on. Any thoughts on what is going on? I think it is a driver issue but I don't know how to correct it. In the device manager it shows that the device is working properly (Samsung Android ADB Interface).

See the Troubleshooting part at end of Cyber Warrior's guide
Thanks, I tried that but the problem is that I don't have a yellow exclamation point and an unknown device. Mine shows the device as a Samsung Android ADB Interface that is working properly. When I go through those steps it does it and then asks to reboot. I have done this over and over again and still get waiting for device.

Try looking at Wug's thread--here or on XDA. You probably need to "point" the drivers to the correct folder. I had to do that on my fiancee's computer, and after that worked, it was fine.

Unfortunately that was 3 months ago, so I completely forget what folder has it or the steps I took. All I know is that it is a common problem (that being the drivers not configuring properly) and that people have addressed it elsewhere.

Thanks. If I find a solution I will post a separate thread. I think part of the problem is that instructions get posted in long threads and they are hard to find even when doing a board search. I know, I have searched and haven't found a solution that works for me.

This is how it worked for me!

First download drivers from following link:
[ADB/FB/APX Driver] Universal Naked Driver Beta 0.6 (250+ Devices, HTC Added) - xda-developers

drivers name : Universal_Naked_Driver_Beta_0.6

then,

go to windows, put your phone into boot condition and then connect to comp.

When windows will say that couldn't recognize device, click on it and update driver from previously saved location of Universal_Naked_Driver_Beta_0.6 driver.

it worked for me.
