Hey Folks,

First time updating to Cyanogenmon 10.1.0 rc1

I have to wipe data and cache. Is wipe data the same as Factory reset?

Thank you again.

No, it not. Factory reset will remove all your apps and restore the phone to new status. Wiping cache and davik cache does just that, leaving your apps installed. Isn't Cyanogenmon an AOSP rom? I would think that if you're going to a Touch Wiz (stock) rom, you would need to do a factory reset. If the rom's instructions say to just wipe cache and davik cache, you should be good. Having said that, make sure you have a nanoid backup, just in case :)

Thank you. Will I still have my contacts and music if i wiped data and cache?

It depends on the game, but you probably will lose data for many of them. I the game stores data to the system data partition, that will be gone. If it saves to the internal (or external) SD, it will be saved. I think most apps save data to system/data.

If you're already rooted, use Titanium Backup to save all your app data.

It is not Wipe Data, it is Wipe Cache and Wipe Dalvik Cache. Wiping Data does just that and wipe the phone completely leaving no OS. It is used to install a new Rom.
