Wiping phone? What do I do about my contacts?

I've been having freezing/rebooting problems for the last few days. I haven't been able to pinpoint the problem to a specific App or anything like that so I'm going to wipe my phone as suggested by virtually everyone when I posted about my problems in this thread copied and pasted below:

So, how do I keep my contacts when I wipe the phone?

Anything else I should know about doing a factory reset (I don't even know how to do it yet, but I'm going to go search right now and also check in the user manual, maybe it's in there?)

the simpliest way i find is to sync it with your google account
Settings>accounts and sync> select auto sync, at the bottom select your google account, make sure contacts is checked off , then sync,,,,

go to your google account and make sure they sync'd
