So a quick little backstory: About mid September I ordered a new Bionic as my family plan was completely out of contract and we had planned on being with Verizon for another two years. I immediately had the problems that the Bionic is renowned for as far as not being able to pick up a data connection. I called (unbeknownst to myself that this was a common issue) and they sent me a new phone within a week. The brand new phone had the exact same issues, but I was so busy I wasn't able to call back until just after 14 days.
Verizon however had still not processed my first phone being back at their warehouse so I had to wait... and wait... and wait... and call... and wait... and call... and call... and wait... until we fast forward to last week some time when I got someone to figure out what was actually going on with the warehouse and get me a refurbished phone. Yaaayyyy. After much more time spent on the phone with Verizon they agreed to send me another brand new phone as long as I up my contract from the beginning of November instead of September. Irritating, but sure. It was at this time someone FINALLY told me that this was a well known and documented issue with the Bionic.
I get this 3rd new phone some time this week and I run through the activation, and something I noticed that was very strange. The phone AUTOMATICALLY picks up my wireless network and connects to it. Firstly, I didn't turn the wireless on. If it's on by default, neat but my wireless network is password protected and I sure as hell didn't enter a password in there or tell it to connect to it. Weird? I think so. When I went to investigate, my wireless network was in the phone as a saved network. When I disconnected from it, and attempted to connect and save it again it asked me for the password. I don't know the ESN of the first phone I got on the account but I'm curious if Verizon sent me the first phone that they originally gave me, you know the one I sent back.
