Wireless Charging Issue

Bought wife a "new" G3 & added wireless charging. Phone & wireless charging work great BUT when I turn phone off & put on charger the phone comes on which is inconvenient for overnight. Tried turning Daydream off & verified stay awake was off in dev options but no help. Also searched for issue but couldn't find solution.

Have a Nexus 4 that doesn't have issue. Same issue with 2 different wireless chargers. Issue doesn't happen when charging via USB cable.

On Android 5.1.1.
Anyone have a solution?

G3 doesn't do on wired charge, if "by design" wouldn't it also restart on wired charge?
My Nexus 4 doesn't do.

Would a 3 coil wireless charger help?

Wired would be a DC circuit connection.
Wireless would be AC coupled via antenna/coil, converted into DC and regulated.
Separate circuitry, likely custom programming per circuit.
