Wireless charging Question

Random Question came to me the other day after receiving my 6P and sitting down at my desk.

Out of habit, I sat at my desk and dropped my phone on my wireless charging pad to the left of my keyboard. I knew as I was doing it that it wouldn't charge, but I like having my phone sitting on a clean surface (especially in our honeymoon phase :-* ).

It made me wonder, is it bad for your phone/battery to be placed on a wireless charging pad when the phone does not have it enabled?

Other than the very slight heat radiated by the pad (which is probably no more than 2 or 3 degrees above room temperature), no. And that amount of heat would probably shorten the phone's life by less than a femtosecond. (If the pad doesn't indicate that the phone is charging, it's not drawing current from th pad, so it's the same as sitting on a slightly warm piece of plastic.)

I could be wrong but it was my fault understanding that there is a NFC chip in the charger that calls to the phone to activate the charging.
