Wireless Charging with magnetic car mount?

Hey guys, currently have a note 3 setup with an amazon qi charging pad inside the battery cover which works great, until I got a magnetic car vent mount (schoshe or something like that but works awesome.)

The car mount requires me to place a small thin piece of sheet metal on the back of the phone (which I just slip inside my case) then the phone sticks to the car mount etc.

With this in place, my qi charger doesn't work anymore.

Wondering if anyone has a magnetic type mount like mine, and is able to confirm if wireless Charging still works with their note 5 or (s6 or edge+ for that matter) .?

Hope all that makes sense, just typing from phone.

Have you taken a look at alternative chargers that don't require you to insert the metal strip? That, combined with the case, is probably the reason why you are not able to wireless charge. There's too much interference between the wireless coil sticker in side the device and the Qi charger.

Exactly why it's not working, but wondering if there would be a difference with Samsungs oem wireless Vs cheapo from Amazon.

If you have the metal on the n5, it won't charge.

There are plenty 3rd party car mounts with wireless charging without the need for some metal plate

I have one from Amazon and it works for me. The only thing is u gotta connect the car mount to a cigarette port via USB cable, but u just connect the phone to the mount and it starts charging wirelessly

Sent from my Galaxy Note 5!

I'm looking for one that works with Note 5, which one do you have?

The one I have is this which works awesome. Just not sure if it wiireless charing will work with the small metal plate. For instance if it's slipped inside a phone case.

scoshe "magic mount-vent"

Holds my not 3 nice and tight.

I would recommend air dock.

So are you using the Air Dock 2.0 right now with a Note 5? It looks really good, but so expensive at $100. Is it strong enough to hold the phone with a case on, and actually charge? I saw a lot of complaints on their Indiegogo page where people placed orders and waited 4 months to get theirs...

I jave a note 5 same issue, will be trying to use smaller steel plate but feel that it makes sense that a magnetic field charger be interfered by... but aluminum cases seem to be fine...

I've got an edge 7, a Samsung fast wireless charging stand, and a steelie.

Like most magnetic stands, Steelie requires you to stick a little aluminum disk to the back of your phone, and naturally I worried about how it'd effect the wireless charging.

I first tried sticking the circle smack in the centre of the back plate, right over the battery, then stuck it on the qi charging stand. The phone charged fine, but the little metal circle got CRAZY HOT within a minute! Obviously it was conducting current.

I then placed the metal circle between the camera and the Samsung logo (so that it didn't sit directly over the battery) and placed the phone back on the qi wireless stand.

It was happy there. Phone charged happily. No superheated metal disk.

Not sure how NFC will be affected... will have to wait and see.

Hope this helps.
