Since my new nexus7 support the wireless battery charge, where do I find more information about it? Do I need to purchase additional to make it possible? And what do you call it?

Please help. Not many people talk about it...

You just need a Qi charger to take advantage of this feature, I have the Samsung wireless charger and it works fine.

Here are some videos I saw in youtube

Last week I reported that the Nexus 7 I had did not work with the Fatboy (DT900). I returned my 32gig Nexus and got an exchange (taking my DT900 charger with me) BestBuy didn't blink an eye and checked out the qi charging on a new Nexus 7, only down side is having to re-setup everything (my wife just grinned at me and half thinks I got the bad Nexus on purpose just so I could start all over a-fresh.

Based on my understanding of Qi technology, I'm assuming that all Qi chargers are magnetic. My question is how magnetic? Is the magnetic force strong enough to hold the Nexus to the charger in a vertical position?

When I set the table on the charging disk I do not feel a magnetic "pull", nor when I lift the tablet off the disk there isn't any feel that the tablet is stuck to the qi disk. The actual charging unit that the qi charger is housed in or around, may have a rubbery or tacky surface that could hold or stop the tablet from sliding though. I have not checked how much material or what types can go between the charger and the tablet as of yet though. The "Fatboy" my wife has for charging her dna phone uses the same charging "puck" and is housed in a denim/canvas type material.

Palm's wireless charging solution was magnetic (and it was fantastic), but I don't believe Qi is. It's just a charger.

Not magnetic. If you want to have your device in the vertical you need to buy a charger that is oriented that way like the Nokia DT-910.

FWIW, I have both the Nokia DT-900 and DT-910 and they work with my Droid DNA and Nexus 7. The work even through the cases.

What kind of a case are you using with the 7? Mostly concerned with how thick it is to help me find a case that will work with a wireless charger. Thanks in advance

It is formally named inductive charging, as the basics are the same though it is called wireless charging because of how we see it.

Qi is a standard of wireless charging. Basically inductive charging works the same way as a transformer does but without a metal core. This means that the two parts must be built to work with each other. That's why there is a standard. Which means that every Qi certified charger is able to charge the N7.

The "wireless" charging itself is not magnetic enough to "stick" to surfaces. Though it uses the relationship of magnetic fields and electric current and is therefore magnetic, yes, but hardly noticable. Why the Nexus 4 and the palm models sticks to their charger is because of 4 small magnets and 4 bits of metal in the phone and the charger. (The Palm Pre had 4 magnets in the charger, aka touchstone, and four pieces of metal in the backcover of the phone)

It is definitely not a thin case. It is a generic leatherette types that doubles as a stand for watching videos. There is around 1/8+ inch of plastic and padding between the back of the nexus and the Qi charging pad. My DNA has a hard plastic shell and it also charges fine with either Nokia charger.

Until you try wireless charging you cannot believe how convenient it is. Just dropped your device on the charger and it charges. I have my Nexus 7 sitting on the Nokia DT 910 which holds it nearly vertical next to my bed. The Nexus 7 charges all night long and access a bedside clock and media player allowing me drift off to sleep listening to music or podcast. In the morning the Nexus 7 is charged up and ready to go.
