Wireless Tether App

I downloaded the wireless tether app today, and I'm having a little trouble. With wired tethering, my internet speeds were very fast; but when I try wireless tethering, my download speed doesn't even get about 50kbps... I don't know what's going wrong... help?

My wireless tether works just fine. I use the built in wireless tether on the Bumblebee ROM.

I use Harmonia. I got the wireless tether working at about 75kbps a minute ago but I was kicked off the computer.

I have mobile hotspot but the connection was even too slow with it that I couldn't even connect to it with my computer.

This could be more based on the nic card/driver in the receiving device. I have an Acer Aspire One Netbook and it connects to my wifi hotspot just fine when I boot it into Ubuntu but if I boot it into Windows XP Pro it can't connect at all.

okay, for some reason it works on one of my family's laptops... but not the other. I don't really know why.

EDIT:
for some reason... when I connect with the other laptop, the one I prefer, my phone doesn't recognize that it's connected.
