Wireless tether & Speed

i'm using wireless tether very weekend while at my gf place. There is 4g service in this area but the speed on the computer is just really slow...Can it be the channel i'm using within wireless twther

Id run speedtest on android 4g and on the computer and see what the speeds are. There are places I know of where a 4g signal actually is slower than a 3g one, although I remain somewhat baffled by that

i run a speedtest over the evo on a flash site and i'm getting from 5~7 mb/p if i run the same test over the computer while tethering i get about .68 mbps this is all download speed. is terrible

Weird. I was tethering through 4g today and I was getting 8mb/s

check out the app, WiFiManager, to see signal strength. it'll actually show you all available channels and the strength of each one--then you can go from there and decide which actually should be best to which you can connect and prefer.

i used it at a Dr's Office recently and actually showed them they weren't getting the best connection possible since other people were probably latching on to their service.
