Wireless Tether - Unable to start tethering

I just finished rooting with the new OTA update rooting method however I'm not able to get Wireless Tether to work. It gives me the message Unable to start tethering and then gives me an error that my phone is in a unknown state please reboot.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

are you using a custom rom? the stock rom might not support the free wireless tethering app.

I had this happen to me once when I used Titanium Backup to reinstall wireless tether. Try uninstalling and reinstalling it, it will say "installed binaries, blah blah" on the first start.

Tried re-installing and it's a no go. I also can't find some of my apps like slingmedia in the app store now. I'm getting extremely frustrated at this point.

my advice would be to flash RvU, it close to stock, and everything works.

this happened to me. i followed the OTA root method to a tee. then i noticed i had the wrong software version (it was still on the engineeriong software). check that. if you have the HBOOT still then look at this:

i did these two files now everything works i have root, and am at the latest version.

Thanks for all the help I'm just such a Noob I didn't know what to do. I went ahead and flashed the DamageControl Rom and everything is working perfectly. I also flashed the FPS file and my phone is so much faster.

after the Post-OTA root, I just installed unrevoked1 for the wireless tether.

I finally was able to update to 3.70.651.1 today and rooted today using Autoroot 2.3 and was excited to try to get the wireless tether to work. I had to manually update using OTA_Supersonic_3.29.651.5 [ROOTED] [DEODEXED] and with the Sprint Lovers Rom and wireless tether version 2.0.6 which i assume came with Sprint Lovers Rom. I was able to successfully connect my itouch to the wireless tether but it only connects for a brief second or two. I enabled my itouch for user permissions, etc and even though the down/upload kB increases slightly, the kbps for shows low numbers then immediately drop back down to 0.0. I spent all day rooting my phone (literally 5 hours) and this is the last thing that i need to get fixed as i am going on a road trip and need wireless tether to work. I cant find anything in regards to this fix. I tried tethering all over my house, inside my car, outside under the sun, still no work. its driving my crazy and i need help.

have you tried downloading the wireless tethering app from the store and using it? should be the first one listed by like muller, lemons or something.
