Wont charge without original usb cord?

Has anyone tried another micro usb charger from an old phone or something? Every time I try another kind like from my droid 3 or thunderbolt the nexus wont charge at all unless it is completely off. IF it is on it doesn't even show its plugged in. If i use my thunderbolt charger and change out the usb to mine it works fine? Anyone been able to charge with another charger while its on?

I've used my roommates motorola charger at the house with the phone on. And I have Motorola car charger that I use every day and they work fine. The Samsung charger seems to charge it faster though.

I use the car charger I used with my droid 2 and the usb chargers I used with my droid x.

I have had several usb cables start to fail. Also my Verizon dual port car charger has failed. With all the plugging in we do, I think these need to be considered a perishable item.
Stock up on USB cables!

yeah.. my old LG charger and cable from my ENV 3 won't work; you get the charging symbol sometimes, but the battery won't take, at the base of the cable, it has a "B" so I'm guessing it's not "strong" enough for the mighty Nexus...

I've been using a Blackberry charger on my nightstand for every Android device I've owned the past two years... Ditto on the OG Droid Moto charger in the car .... Down in the kitchen I have a D2G Moto charger I use. That's also the charger whose data cable I use when I hook up to lap top ....

The Sammy charger is still in the box....

That's it! It is the LG ones that wont work. My thunderbolt actually does work but none of the lg ones. Weird.

My motorola charger is hit and miss... it's odd. It charges my old Incredible fine but is very touchy with my GNexus

Yup. I have htc, sony ericcson, logitech all work. Only LG ones did not work.

The rep told me not all of them work I use an old bb one in the living room and my Samsung one in the bedroom car charger works for me

Old HTC charger from my Incredible did the trick just fine for me.
