Won't connect to 2G wireless

My 2013 Moto x suddenly won't connect to ANY 2G wireless AP. It will connect to the 5G radio in my apartment, but can't connect to any 2G, anywhere. I've cleared the system cache and done a complete wipe of the phone...twice. Also checked that the wireless is set to "Auto" for 2G or 5G. Also looked for other running apps but can't see anything that would account for this. Anybody have any ideas?
