Won't connect to 5ghz router!

My shield won't connect to my router's 5ghz connection only 2.4. But yet I can connect to the 5ghz on my phone. Any ideas why?

Bad hardware? Bad firmware? TKIP encryption on 5GHz? There's no way to narrow it down from here.

(My Note 3s were terribly slow on a new Linksys router. The fix was a $35 Netgear router. Sometimes the solution is counter-intuitive.)

It's working now. Not sure what the problem was.
