my lg thrive wont load up past second lg sign. it loads the first transitions to the second then my main buttons blink and it shuts down. i cant go to revovery mode but i can go to emergency and fastboot. ive tried a lot!!!. i downloaded gingerbread apk. and after the rooted finished it started doing that. :'( very frustrated and really want this fixed so please give me all input you can :'(

I posted this over in another topic. But I believe that the Thrive 506 is just different enough from the Phoenix 505 that CWM sometimes just doesnt want to play nice.

Give this a try and good luck. It saved me.

With all due respect to Joban. If you have the p506 (ie Thrive), his instructions do NOT work.

I had the same problem and tried using a kdz according to his instructions and this completely bricked my phone. Upon getting a new Thrive, I decided to try to flash again and got slammed into fast boot mode again.

The right way to fix a Thrive is as follows:

[HOWTO] Revive a bricked P500 on fastboot mode (the SHORT way) - xda-developers

PLEASE NOTE in STEP 5 that you should get the recovery image created by Raenye (here)

xda-developers - View Single Post - [Source] LGP506 (AT&T LG Thrive GoPhone)

Use that recovery image and it will allow you to get into Clockworkmod from which you should be able to reboot. I am assuming here that you never had a chance to flash a new rom, if you did flash a new rom you should reflash stock rom from here:

[ROM] LG Thrive P506 Stock FOTA 2.2.2 v11h - xda-developers

That should bring you back to stock.

[Q][HELP][URGENT] Help restoring lg-p506 to stock - xda-developers

Good luck

I had the same issue what you need to do is download the drivers from LG. Now this is the tricky part. what you need to do is follow the link above for the P500 and download the program the recommend there its something from LG. You will need to lie to you computer and tell it you are using a P500 in Singapore and then let it download the drivers. It does it all weird, the program actually downloads zip files one at a time then you have to install them manually if I remember correctly it should download 3 different files once these are downloaded and installed your PC will see phone correctly and then its just a matter of moving the KDZ file to the phone. Mine is a P505 and though joban's instructions got me on the right track they didn't work for me either. As far as the complete brick of the phone if your phone boots into the emergency mode you can always get it back as long as you have the correct KDZ file.

Do NOT flash a kdz file. I tried it and it bricked my phone and had to buy another one.

The folks who have done this (from what I can tell) all had the Phoenix (505) flashing a Thrive (506) with a kdz will brick it, as evidenced by my experience and a few others.

So...does CyanogenMod (CM7....is that the same as CMW that was listed earlier?) Work with a P506 (Thrive)?

I've rooted my phone, but I have yet to put a different ROM on it. Seems like there may be some issues in doing this on the Thrive (Rather than the Phoenix).

Though I admit I have a 505 I don't think your assessment is quite accurate. If you flash wrong KDZ or a KDZ specific to the 505 and not the 506 I would suspect there would a huge pile of issues which could include bricking. The KDZ's are basically the same as a BIOS flash for the phone if you use the wrong one you can screw it royally but the KDZ files are how the hardware developers are able to upload the OS to the phone in the first place. I have tried to do a number of flashes first few completely didn't work... one finally did. The way I look at it is unless you have any other option your probably looking at taking your phone back to AT&T anyways its your choice but I would go ahead and try it... pray a lot

IM VERY AGITATED every time i get over a step i fall back 2. i now have it all good and running with fastboot but when i try to flash the files it says not able to load the file specified. or specified file not found. its realy annoying that i cant fix this
thanks for all the help so far. please continue your insightful advice (meant for all who haved helped)!!!!!!!!!!!

Try re-downloading the the files and putting them on a clean SD card. When I was messing with my old G1 I couldn't get it to take some files unless the SD card was freshly formatted and the file copied to it. Not saying that will work for you but its worth a try.

Are you sure you are using the right file name and are looking in the right directory?

I know when I did it, that using the command prompt was hard for me and making sure I was in the right directory took a bit of time.

thanks for your patience guys. i have got the recovery that was raiynes put on. i cant get the update zip to work. it says that there are missing parts. i can now boot to clock work boot up. is there a way i can restore back to stock or something because i dnt have a back up and i still cant boot up.

If you can boot into CWM then all you need to do is download a ROM and flash it then install joban's kernel and your good to go. I recommend cyanogenMMatt v1.1 atleast till Joban gets his ROM done.

Just in case...to be clear, you are not "applying the update from the SD card", you are "choosing to install a zip from the SD card"

Then one of the items should be whatever rom you put on the sdcard.

Good luck
