won't recognize my phone

Ok, i'm a noob so please be kind! ok i installed all the drivers and even kies, though i still can't get my stupid computer to let me access it. it says it's connected, but can't find any removable storage icon, can't even get in the back door by going through the main program. i'm running the worst os ever, well it's not win 2000! lol!! I'm running vista and it used to let me into the phone, once upon a time ago. I got a Trojan and had to remove it, it may have compromised the original driver. So I reinstalled it and now i can't get it to do anything but make the funny connection sound, WHAT NEXT? :'(

Got WiFi? I gave up on Kies, and use ES file explorer over WiFi to do all my transfers.

If it had kies air then use that. Otherwise go into the usb settings and see which one works. If that still doesn't work then use another computer. Reboot the computer. Try a different cable, and a different USB port. Sometimes these things can be persnickety.
