Tonight while I was reading a book on my ATRIX phone, my phone turned off without notice. I tried turning it back on and it wouldn't. So I popped out the battery, waited about 5 minutes, put the battery back in and tried to turn it back on. It did not turn back on. I plugged in the my phone with the stock Motorola charger. The green light flashed on for a moment, the opening "M DUAL CORE Technology" screen popped up, then it flashed to the Battery Screen and it reads "5%" and the Green Light changes to Red. After an hour of leaving it on the charger I went back to look at it still read "5%". I turned on the phone like normal (still plugged in) and it booted up properly until it went to the Internal Storage check and then the screen flashed black and then it rebooted itself back to the battery screen. So I turned it back on again, it again booted normally, did the Internal Storage check and it stayed on. The battery indicator says it is fully charged, so I pulled the plug on it, and it turned off. I tried turning it back on but it will not stay on unless it is connected to the charger. While it was on, and while it was on the charger, I was able to do everything I can normally do if I didn't have this problem.
A few people on different forum posts have always asked if they were using the stock charger, they weren't and it fixed the problem. As I am using the stock charger, and always have, and its not fixing my problem, I do not see that as a solution.
Another forum post said there is some kind of update glitch that relates to the battery, the Original Poster had a similar problem as mine. He did a hard reset and it fixed his problem. So I did a hard reset (hold volume down button and push the power button etc..) and it did not solve my problem. Every time i take it off the charger, it will shut itself off and when plugged in it always goes to the battery screen and reads "5%".
I have taken out the battery to see if the battery somehow got wet, the indicator does not show it had gotten wet. The water indicator in the phone also does not show it got wet.
I have taken a pencil eraser to the battery metal part to clean it, that did not work. I used compressed air to blow off any dust or dirt it may have in the phone, that did not work.

If your phone is still under warranty you can take it to an ATT store to see if they can help you out. Sounds like your battery may have failed or something else. If your out of warranty check out the Rescue squad at the atrixfroums to see if they can help.

I agree, I'd pop in another battery and see what happens. Sounds like the battery is completely dead.
