On my previous phone the Note 4, every time the keyboard is brought up, the word suggestion (predictive text) section above the keyboard is displayed. However, on this phone (and my LG G Pad X 10.1), the word suggestion section is only displayed in certain apps. How do I force it to display every time the keyboard is brought up? Btw, I am using the LG keyboard but it does the same when I switch to the Google keyboard.

Have you checked Settings/Language and Keyboard/LG Keyboard/Word Suggestions/ and made sure Next Word is active?

Yes it's active. When you are searching in your Google app, does your word suggestion section pop up because mine doesn't. It also doesn't pop up in my Home Depot app, but does pop up in the Amazon app.

like this?

Weird indeed. That's something that should be pooping up in every single app. Hmmm

I found this on the Google Support forum. Supposedly worked for at least one person, so it's something you could try:

Force close all apps including the Google app

In your Android Application Manager, select the Google App and then select Clear cache

Sign out of all of your Google accounts (this will need to be done in Android Accounts settings).

Turn off your phone completely. Then, turn it on and sign in again with your Google account.

I use SwiftKey and Swiftmoji. Both are fantastic and work with all apps. I'm actually using Swiftmoji exclusively now. It gives you a row of emoji that includes matches to what you're typing. For instance, 🤗😎🤑🤐🙈🙉🙊👻👍👎👌
