Words with Friends on Xoom sudden issue

I've been playing the game Words with Friends on my Xoom for a few weeks now, and although it is far from optimized (can't see the bottom third of letters) at least it worked. Until it today. Now there is a constant splash screen when I go to it saying I need to "upgrade. New version available". But it won't let me upgrade.

When I click the pop up button it takes me to my web browser which in turn takes me to the market which in turn just crashes when it tries to upgrade. I can't get it to update for the life of me. I tried uninstalling it, but now I can't get it back.

Anyone else having these issues or better yet have a suggested fix on how to get the game back. On their market page it says a "honeycomb optimized version is coming soon", but at least I could play on the old janked version. I don't want perfect, I just want playable.

Thanks

All of sudden apps arent working like they are use to. I also notice apps that were once compatible are incompatible on the tablet... Its like the apps list is shrinking or something.

IMHO, both of you need to try to remember the last few apps you've loaded into your XOOM. One of those is probably the culprit.

We have three XOOMs in my household and they all work great. The way we keep them that way is to monitor what we load very carefully. We only load one app at a time and to a chronological list of what we loaded. Then we run the XOOM through a bunch of our known good apps, trying to exercise everything we can think of. If nothing behaves differently, we are open to adding a new app... if we want/need one.

One thing nobody can argue is Honeycomb is still a work in progress. I wouldn't be so negative to say it's "beta", but it clearly has first production glitches. If one is careful, they can have an excellent experience. If you want something that "just works", you'll need to visit the Apple Store, but live with glaring limitations that platform has.

The good news is Android for Tablets will get better. :-)

According to the market t is no longer available on the xoom. I guess the latest update also changed the comoatability flag. Need to wait on the developer to update.

I'm definitely having the same problem with words with friends. Also notice with some other apps that needed upgrading that the market says not found.

i thought there was supposed to be a tablet version its about time we see it soon. don't you think

My wife's xoom had the same problem with words with friends, and she hasn't installed anything for some time.

We were able to work around it by side loading the .apk. Seems to be working now (at least, she's able to continue her games in progress.)

Similar issue with Skype - they released a very narrow new version (2.3 only) in the market, but it replaced the prior release, so Skype is no longer available for 3.x

Looks like a number of the android app vendors need to spend more time on version control.

I have experienced the same problem this morning. I uninstalled it and now I can't get it back. What is up with that?

how long do we need to wait for the Droid apps to get better?

same problem.
How do I go about getting the apk so sideload it? Can I download it to my Evo and pull it from there (don't like the effect on battery - even after adjusting settings - so I don't keep it on there), or is it something I can google. I tried sideloading it once already, but I couldn't find a workable version. I don't want to "pirate" it. I just want a working version. Where can I find one?

So, somehow my Words with Friends updated to version 3.59 and appears to be Honeycomb optimized. Seriously! No lie! However, the version in the market is still at version 3.52. LOL!

Actually, if you look at it in the market on your computer, it says Version: Varies with device. When I click install, it shows 3.59 for the Xoom, 3.52 for my phone.

WOW it's so much better!
