Hey all, just letting you know for people that are having the hissing, crackling, popping call quality there is a fix. I am on my 3rd g2 and started threads here and xda about bad call quality. Called sprint I can't tell you how many times. For some reason, tonight, 11/26, I called again. Tech support did some digging and found a workaround for call issues the g2 us suffering. It was just given to them 11/22. Unfortunately I didn't write code down as I did it because u figured it would be a dissapointment like all their other feeble attempts to fix problem. To my surprise, IT ACTUALLY*WORKED. So all suffering, five them a call and see if it resolves your problem, and please, post back with results. Its not a reset, you don't lose anything. Its a code that gets you into the service menu, and you disable something. As simple as that. Good luck and reply back.

Here is the work around from eyeisdasteve XDA
Go to the Dialer
Type in ##3282#
Tap More
Tap Advanced
Tap Edit and enter the handset MSL
Tap EVRC_B
Set the option to Disable
Tap the Back Key and the device will Power-cycle
You can get your msl by type in ##443336772#
Crackling and popping noise disappears after I disable the EVRC B .So far so good ;)

Sorry but I don't understood. Can you write detailed information? Seems I have same issue

Follow the steps above ^^^^ pretty detailed and easy. First thing though, use the code to get your msl code, get it, write it down. You will be prompted when to use it. Follow simple steps and call quality goes yo the way it should be.

Any one know how to do this with a Verizon phone? Their phones do not use those dialer codes or perhaps they have them disabled.

Thanks for this fix! Couldn't stand the crappy voice quality and this has fixed it completely for me.

Even though I like this phone a lot, I was going to return it because of crappy call quality. Just found this post before that. I am glad I haven't return it. Call quality is so clear now. Couldn't be happier.

Thank you to everyone who contribute to solve this issue.....

I tried this but there is no _ (underscore) there is only a - (dash) does that EVRC_B correspond to the numbers 3872-2? Also, the phone just says excess MSL and I am still getting the same problems. I typed in ##443336772# and got a 126*** then entered that into the box and it returned as invalid. Can someone help me with this, I just got this phone today and it is so frustrating?

Wow! Didn't know you could get your msl without calling/asking Sprint for it! Thanks! And I followed the instructions to the letter and it worked for me.

After update you need to re-disable the EVRC_B setting.

On related note I was getting a lot of the snap crackle pop sounds during all of my calls. I found on a Verizon forum that changing the vocoders to 13K QCELP fixed the issue for some of them. I tried it and, bam!! crystal clear. No volume changes and no random clicks, pops...

The vocoders (Home orig., Home page, and Roam orig.) are in the same settings menu as EVRC_B.

##3282#... More... Advanced..

That does fix it but man it sounds like muffled garabage now and clarity is shot to hell.
