I just got my S3 last night and found out that I couldn't set up Google Voice voicemail with the phone. It gave me the notice below. I've been googling for work around but have not found anything. If someone calls my Google voice #, the phone just keeps ringing endlessly. Does anyone know how to get it to work? Thanks.

Works fine on mine. It always says that but you just ignore it and continue anyway. Said the same thing with my Thunderbolt.

I also ignored the "warning"..and kept going, and my "former" voicemails populated the system

I then tested it by calling my phone to leave a voicemail message and got a message that the system was not set up properly or something to that effect.. I then went to my Google voicemail settings, deactivated voicemail and then reactivated it. That solved it.. google voicemail box works :D

it has done that on every phone I installed it on but it always works :)

I got the warning as well. I moved my GV over from my DX. I ignored the warning and everything seems to work anyway.

Are you coming from a different carrier? If so, you'll have to re-forward your voicemail. Did you change your number? Same thing. Just go to the actual Google Voice website and set it up.

yeah, I'm lost. All you have to do is just set no answer call forwarding (*71+number). The voicemail set up in the app itself has never worked on Verizon as stated above. I always just hit skip when it gets to that part of the app setup.

Same - hit Ok or Cancel as many times as was necessary to skip past all the warnings and it works.

No, I didn't change carrier. I'm just switching from the Droid X to the Galaxy S3. It seems to work now after I just ignored that message and kept going til the end of the setup process. But I was confused because with my Droid X, the Google Voice setup always asked me to dial *71 something something to configure the voicemail. Thanks everyone.

After you do it the first time, it's not required if you switch devices. The no answer call forwarding will carry over until you turn it off.

Having issues with Google voice. I set it up and dial *71 and the google voice number but when I call the phone and it goes to vm it says "We could not complete your call, please try again".

I have activated and deactivated, but no luck.

Any help would be great

Edit: Figured it out, it was not working if I denied the call, but I dialed *90 and the GVoice number and now it all works fine.
