Hello all,

I'm new here but have been reading the forums for a few weeks. My contract with Sprint is up and I have 2 Palm Pre's to replace. Right now I'm looking at the Evo 3D and the Nexus S.

From what I can tell:

Nexus S: Slightly older platform. Single core processor, pure Google only, no extra carrier crap. No MicroSD slot.
Evo 3D: Newer platform, 3D for pictures and movies. Dual core processor, HTC sofware overlay. Micro SD slot.

I'm leaning toward the Nexus S because it doesn't have all the extra carrier crap installed. I can install it if I want. The dual core processor in the Evo 3D does have me interested. I don't care about the 3D crap in the phone.

All suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm choosing the phones I'm using for the next 2 years, so please help me pick a winner.

Thanks,
awshirley

You can't go Wrong with either one. Coming from the Pre myself i got the Epic last year due to the Keyboard. I myself am waiting for the GSII before deciding and the Photon from MoTo looks good too.
So depending what you want out of a new phone for the next 2 years. If you want next gen tec so you can get more out of the phone like duo core games and software apps. Then look into the 3D or Photon or GSII. If due core is not that important and you would like to have more upto date updates and a solid device for the nice 2 years , the NexusS 4g is a great choice. People are still using the Nexus 1 and its been out a couple of years. The Nexus 4G lte rumored to be coming out later this year would be a phone to wait for too if you wanted something like that.

Good luck.

I am replacing my EVO 4G and have agonized over it more than it deserves, but I think I am going to wait for the Samsung GS2 rather than get the EVO. Since it may be a month or more, you may find that idea intolerable while being stuck with a Pre.

I've never considered the Nexus out of snobbery against the single core processors. I would consider that carefully if you aren't lucky enough to still have annual upgrades.

I had some interest in the Photon, but a combination of the Motorola interface and lack of any feature the other phones had, plus presumably later release date turned me against it. Neither the world phone nor business friendly features interest me.
