I'd say no, it isn't worth it. I've been using my SHIELD Tablet since December 2014, and it got replaced in the recall, so I have a presumably year or so old unit. The past eight months have been very frustrating with it, the battery only lasts a few hours at best, and the tablet freezing up when I try to do something as simple as browse the AC app. The motherboard itself crashed two weeks ago, and it would cost more to fix the tablet than it would to buy a different tablet. I'm going to take the battery out, mail it some friends, and they'll shoot it at the fun range.
I know that one experience isn't enough to label a product as "bad", but I always hear about tablets with NVIDIA chips having strange issues. Specifically, the Pixel C and Nexus 9. I can't trust NVIDIA's chips, so I'd recommend getting a Samsung Tab S2.
