Worth coming over from the Note 5?

Has anyone here switched and been happy?

I don't really mind TouchWiz all that much, but I'd like to try stock out, while that sale is currently going on. What do you guys like/dislike more about the 6P, than the Note 5.

Thanks!

I came from the Note 5 to the 6p and switched to Project Fi. Great move for us! I like the lack of bloat and being free from the big 4 carriers. I really can't see us moving back to branded phones and being locked into a single carrier. It feels good being able to use whichever service we want to use. So far Fi has been a first rate choice for us.

I've had both phones on T-Mobile. I prefer the Nexus 6 on T-Mobile for the following reasons:

1. The Note 5 is still running Lollipop. By the time it gets Marshmallow, Android N will be close to coming out. I like the fact that Marshmallow gives me control over my apps.

2. Monthly security updates. The Nexus received them in a timely manner. The Note 5 is dependent on T-Mobile to push it out. I believe the T-Mobile version was last updated in December. May not seem like a big deal but it can be if exploited by hackers.

3. When the Note 5 does get Marshmallow, it may be buggy.

4. No Touch Wiz. For me it doesn't add any value but takes up a lot of storage.

5. Value. The N6P is on sale right now at Best Buy for $425 with a free case. That's $275 less expensive than what T-Mobile charges for the Note 5.

6. The Nexus 6P will very likely receive the 2017 version of Android. If the Note 5 gets it, it will be several months after release.

The only major advantage the Note 5 has is the S-Pen if you use it. Both have excellent cameras. I think the Note 5 takes better day time pics and the N6P takes better low light pics.

If you like your S pen and use it tons on your note, you are not going to happy with the switch. Everything else should be a pleasant transition. Note 5 is a fantastic phone no doubt. But if you are not using its extra features, then switching is a plus.

That's what made me switch!! Very well stated.

I was very very happy with my note. Samsung pay, all that. But the 6.0 update made my phone suck on battery my Google services was 20% of my battery. Tried everything... Disabling location, factory reset, clearing updates of Google play services and reinstalling... To no avail. The note 5 is better in nearly every facet except software and battery in my opinion and battery is important to me. The final straw was that on Friday I used the phone for 50 minutes total the whole day and my battery was at 50% when I left work. To me that's horrible. My 6p is usually around 85% after that kind of use. I'm a bit battery obsessed though I have to admit

I'm still debating on which phone to go for.

How's the screen quality and battery on the 6P compared to the Note 5.

I switched from the Note 5 to the Nexus 5X after owning the Note 5 for 5 months due to bloatware, lag and poor software support. Once you go nexus its hard to go back to carrier branded devices.

What email and contacts app are on the N6P?

I have the Note 5 from release date, tried the GS7 (too small after years with a Note) and the Priv, while I liked the Priv it had too many simple issues (MMS not working, etc.) if you didn't use BB's Hub your contacts are loaded into an app (Outlook as an example) making it hard to send a quick text to someone since contacts from an app are not by default accessible from the messaging app.

So as I consider taking the leap to the N6P I want to make sure there is some kind of stock email and contacts app.

TIA

Stock email app is GMail. The contacts app is combined with Google's dialer, the cryptically named "Phone" (link).

Thanks, not a fan of the new GMail inbox look/feel but getting tired of some of the Samsung app setting (automatically setting default apps is my biggest pet peve right now).

Using GMail can you text from your contacts?

Again, thanks.
