My m8 had been a phenomenal device and marshmallow has really made me fall in love with it again. Unfortunately the battery isn't what it used to be. Phone dies prematurely and it's not uncommon to see a. 10-15% loss per hour just using the MP3 player. Calls around town say it will be roughly 80 dollars to replace the battery. Other than that the phone is in great condition and still super fast.

Try to restart the phone in safe mode to see if you still have the same problem

Well it just jumped from 22-17% and didn't shut down. I suppose that's progress. Will try and run it down in safe mode. If the phone behaves like its supposed to I guess just uninstalling apps until I get to the root of the next step.

Have you performed cache wipe procedure in recovery mode? That might solve the rapid discharge issue... But ultimately it sounds like you have lost some of the total battery capacity. Replacing battery is the solution.

I'm sorry this is happening to you! With beloved phones that you've kept for a long time - at least, this has been my experience with my devices - the battery seems to be the first thing to really take a hit. How long have you had the device for, exactly? If you really like the M8 and decide not to spend the money on a new battery, you could always grab an M8 from eBay or buy an M9; which should be easier to get your hands on now that the M10 is out.

I loved looking at/researching the M8 when I was looking at Android devices, so I can understand your conundrum... Good luck and let us know what happens! :)

Phone is 25 months old. I was hoping to ride out the rest of the year and see what black Friday produced on deals for the new crop of devices. I hate upgrading in spring. Too many other options drop 6 months after a March/April purchase.
