I'm currently using a launch day HTC One M7...should I upgrade to the 5X now that it's on sale? I've read reviews, seen camera comparisons, etc but I'm still not sure.

Anybody here switch from an old(er) phone? How substantial was the upgrade? Would I be better off looking for a better deal or holding out for next year due to the supposed performance/build quality issues?

In a word: yes. I love mine. Definite upgrade from even the M8.

I've used pure Android before and loved it. How was the camera upgrade? I know the 4MP on my M7 is woefully underpowered by modern standards...hell, it barely kept pace nearly 3 years ago. I take a lot of photos and it looks good from the reviews but those aren't usually how pics are taken in reality. (standing still, perfect lighting, etc)

Thanks for those samples. Looks pretty good!

That second shot was as simple as open the stock camera app and click the shutter. I usually don't mess around with camera features, usually the only thing I touch is auto flash and maybe macro setting if the camera is capable.
