Would A USB-To-HDMI Cable Work With The HTC EVO3D?

I saw on Ebay that there is a USB-to-HDMI adapter cable for mobile phone. Would this type of cable work on the EVO3D, and if so, what could the cable broadcast on an HDMI ready TV (Shows,Music, Videos, Pics, ect)? I know the EVO4G uses an HDMI cable to transmit pics and videos to a TV, so at the EVO3D'S core, it might be able to use a cable like this, but I'm just guessing.

MHL is a new technology that allows you to fully mirror your phone onto your tv, not just share pictures and /or home video. It also allows you to display 3D content that is on your phone on your tv. If the tv is a non-3D tv the content will display in regular 2D, and if the tv is a 3D one it displays in 3D. I use the MHL quite a bit and it works on my 2010 Coby and 2008 Samsung. The adapters are a little more common now than when the phone first came out. I have the HTC one and got it through Sprint. At the time my local store gave me 25% off so I paid about 25.00 and they shipped it to my house for free. You can get them cheaper online and at some electronic stores. Just do a search on MHL Adapter.

Oh, I forgot to mention that it has two slots. One is for the HDMI cable and the other is for your power source. You have to have it plugged into an outlet in order for it to work. I would recommend that you get one. I have used it on not only my tv to stream YouTube video but also to play games and have them displayed on the big screen. I also used it on a friend's tv to stream the RedZone channel from my DirecTV app. Hope this helps! :D

So I can stream content to the TV from my phone? What brand and style of adapter do I need? I don't want to end up buying the wrong type. Playing games off of my phone onto my big screen HDTV would be so much fun!

I got the HTC one from Sprint. At that time mine didn't have them in-store but that was back in June. From what I've seen posted here and there on the various forums though, you can get them in-store at some locations or at places like Radio Shack. Lol, in June our Radio Shack didn't even have them and didn't know what they were! ;)

You also have a HTC EVO3D? So if I get the cable it will definitely work?

Yes, I have the EVO 3D. Got it back in June when it was first released. It should work for you. The EVO 3D and HTC Sensation both use MHL. While you could use a regular HDMI cable with the EVO 4G to view pictures and video on your tv, there is full mirroring of your EVO 3D with MHL and you can't use just the HDMI alone. I have used it with no problems and since it was designed that way it should work for you.

I bought one on Ebay. It was listed as being used with the EVO3D. So hopefully it works.

So you can really play games through your phone onto an HDTV? That would make games even more fun! Imagine X-Plane and Order And Chaos on a 40" screen :-)

Thanks again CarrieK for telling me about this! I didn't think any of this was even possible.

Yes, you can see anything that shows on your phone's screen on your tv. :D Your home screen, apps, YouTube video, games, whatever you like. It is one of my favorite features of this phone but strangely enough not talked about very much. You are very welcome, and I am glad I could help!

Would this cable work on the LG Optimus V?

Sent from my LG-VM670 using Tapatalk

I'm sorry, I didn't see your post! I don't know if the Optimus V has MHL or not. I would think they would have built in some way to share 3D content on your tv but have no idea what technology they use or if it is capable of full mirroring. You may want to go to the Optimus V forum and see if anyone there knows. I wish I could have helped. :(

I was thinking you were referring to the Optimus 3D. I think the Optimus S and Optimus V are closely related except the Optimus S is on Sprint. I know MHL doesn't apply to the Optimus S so I doubt it will work with the Optimus V.

Okay the cable adapter came in today, but I can't get it to work. When I plug the adapter to my phone and to my HDTV, nothing happens. And the adapter didn't come with instructions; so I don't know what to do. How am I suppose to get this adapter to work with my TV, besides plugging it in?

One part goes to the HDMI cable, the other to your charger. You have to plug it into an outlet in order for it to work.

Thanks for the tip! I didn't notice the second plug on the side until you posted your reply. I got it to work now.

Thanks again!

Glad it works! Pretty awesome, isn't it? :D. I use mine a lot.

Yeah its very cool! I can now watch the TV shows and movies on my phone, on my HDTV. Plus I was playing video games using the adapter and that makes the games even better. I just don't have a 3D TV, so I can't watch any of my 3D content on my TV. But that is fine with me for now.
