Would appreciate some input

Hello!
First, if a similar thread to this exists, please accept my apology.

I am up for an upgrade on November 2nd and I'm absolutly moving away from my Blackberry. I had decided I was getting the HTC Incredible, but after visiting a Verizon Store, one of the sales guys was showing me the Fascinate. And...well...I was fascinated! (sorry).

I've 95% decided I am going for the Fascinate, but I'd appreciate some input from anyone that may have had an Incredible and switched to a Fascinate, or has at least worked with an Incredible and can give me a little bit of pros and cons. I know a lot of it will be a matter of preference, but I'd really like to hear from someone that has at least sampled both. Make sense?

The Fascinate has better hardware and potential, the Incredible has better software out of the box (HTC Sense).

If you just want to buy a phone and use it, get the Incredible (or an iPhone, if you can stand AT&T). Otherwise, the Fascinate for sure.

They are both good phones, don't stress over the decision too much

takes better pictures (imo) especially at night
gorgeous screen
better SOC (hummingbird is better than the snapdragon model on the inc)
MUCH BETTER BATTERY LIFE

cons:
no fully custom kernel (yet)
weird file system (can be fixed though)
2.2 isn't on it yet

incredible
pros:
small
thin
light (to the point of feeling flimsy almost)
well supported in the mod community
froyo
sense (can be taken as a pro or con)

cons:
smaller screen
somewhat cheap construction
REALLY CRAPPY BATTERY
sub par screen compared to the fascinate.

I have used both devices and they are very similar, As far as the Incredible goes I'm not a fan of that optical navigation sensor it uses and the battery life was not as good as the Fascinate. Also the screen I think is much nicer on the Fascinate. I believe that they both have the same processor in them but the SF seems to be faster but that just might be me.

Sorry, forgot to mention - the GPS in the Fascinate is very buggy at this point, if that's important to you.

I mean it's really about what YOU want and what YOU like. Everyone has different opinions and preferences. My choice was between the Dinc and the Fascinate also, but I didn't even get to the part of the store that had the Dinc displayed. Fell too much in love with the Fascinate. Never looked back.

My wife has had an incredible since june so I have been able to play with it for a bit. I just bought my Fascinate 2 weeks ago. I am extremely happy with it even though it still has 2.1

different processors

fascinate: hummingbird 45nm with a powerful GPU (can't find info on what chip specifically, but it is far more powerful than anything running android currently, just look at the fps in something like quadrant in the 3d portion)

incredible: snapdragon QSD8650 65nm with an adreno 200 GPU which is really it's weak link in the SOC as it's a pretty weak GPU (the OMAP in the droid line has a better GPU than it)

so gaming on the fascinate (later on more than now) should be a much better experience than on the incredible.

one thing i've noticed is the fascinate can run live wallpapers far smoother than any other android handset i've had.

Had the DInc for four months and now the Fascinate for about two weeks. I would definitely suggest the Fascinate. I experienced a lot of reboot and consistent battery drain issues with multiple Incredibles.

DInc is a great phone, decent speed, and maybe requires a little less initial tweaking (I prefer Google Search & Maps and didn't care a whole lot for TouchWiz...replaced with an old favorite: GDE), but for the amazing screen, great sceen size, overall size/weight, Swype (although I had the Beta on the DInc), the Fascinate would be my strong recommendation.

If you are going from a BB to the fascinate, get used to imagining you see the (nonexistent) red light on the thing flash out of the corner of your eye every 5 minutes, only to remember it doesn't have one, and then reach over and fumble around for the screen button to see if you have any new messages. Just to prepare you, there *will* be disappointment when you realize all the little things you never really noticed that your BB did so well, the fascinate doesn't do at all. Don't get me wrong, it's a great gadget, but trying to compare it to a BB in terms of user experience is apples to oranges. BB still has a solid hold on the "get the job done" department, Android is still learning things that RIM had perfected 5 years ago.

If they made a native (or very thin addon) feature to blink the softkey LEDs I would be happy. The NoLED apps available today are total ****, sorry but they kill the battery and are unstable; they make a bad situation worse. What stinks is that these companies sit in their towers, gathering their patents, and they each make a fraction of a great phone but no company has made one phone that actually excels at every area. Part of that is they are limited on what "innovations" they can even include thanks to the disgusting state of patent law.
