Would Epic not have 3D sound?

Samsung posted a new video that shows off all US phones. Its a nice watch, but at 1:44, narrator says "3D audio is also featured on Vibrant and Captivate". No mention of Epic and Fascinate. Narrator is not taking name of the phone unless there is something unique about it. Is that possible that Epic will not have 3D sound which, I guess, is referring to 5.1 Surround Sound feature...

Can I just say again- hardware differentiation SUCKS. It's unacceptable that any of these phones don't have the same specs- some with camera flash- some not... I really don't think Samsung would do well with their Samsung Hub store unless all phones play the content the same- Surround sound and same technology screens. I also hope the content you buy is tied to your account and NOT your handset. If I buy avatar on Sprint Evo and next year jump to the Verizon Fascinate 2 (or whatever next samsung) I should be able to sign into my existing Samsung Hub account and download the film I already purchased- NOT have to pay again.

I sure hope it has 3D sound. Whilst it is by no means a deal breaker, I have a nice 5.1 system at home. The DLNA feature of this phone makes it possible to connect it to my PS3 which is connected to the system which equals tons of fun!

Do they say what process they're using to simulate surround via stereo headphones?

In your case Robbies- if you have your PS3 hooked up to a 5.1 amp- I'm sure the amp has DSP modes to send simulation to all speakers from a 2d stereo source- all amps have this function these days.

The surround for the phone I don't believe will be sent via DLNA as that's specifically a headphone based feature.

Good point brandon lol. So, I know I shall be called stupid for asking lol, but is the 5.1 speaker simulation for wearing headphones? Like wearing headphones makes it seem like you're listening to a 5.1 system?

That's exactly how I understand it. Simulated Surround while wearing headphones. So listening to a movie while on a train on your morning commute is a little more theater like.

I'm actually a big fan of "surround" via headphones. Stephen King's old radio broadcast of "The Mist" made excellent use of spatial effects for headphone use.

Oh wow I'm a huge fan of Stephen King! Haha! I too love virtual surround. My phone never leaves my side as it is so if I got this I'd never put it down! Lol I'm sure this phone will be amazing even if it didn't have virtual surround!

Enjoy:

Amazon.com: The Mist Movie Tie-In: In 3 D Sound (9780743571289): Stephen King…

There's another version on Amazon for more money- published 2 years later- not sure if it's just new packaging or what.

Amazon.com: The Mist (9781848942363): Stephen King: Books

Mind you- I listened to the original Cassette tape version. LOL!

WARNING- lots of King fans found it cheezy- so don't expect much. I just am a sucker for the old style radio dramas- and this was the only one back in the day to feature 3D stereo surround...I thought it pretty cool.

Try to rent it from a library perhaps 1st.(if you can find it)

Just like the Galaxy though- the 3d effect is rendered useless without headphones though.

Hey cool- 100 posts... I'm an official Android Central troll now! Don't think I ever racked up that much on Precentral after a YEAR of that hot mess of a phone...

The Fascinate and the Epic are not out yet. I finally got some Internet, but I can't watch the video. were they mentioned in the video at all?

Thanks so much for the links brandon! I'll check them out after I've used the money I've been putting back for the phone lol ;D . Caliskimmer, I don't quite understand your question. Yes all the phones were mentioned with their "feature attributes" per carrier.
