Would like to root.....

I just cannot push myself to do it. Few questions. I am currently running stock 2.1 on my droid and everything runs perfect. If I root which guide is best to use for a first time rooter and are there any annoying issues that would be difficult to fix? Also do all apps work on a rooted 2.2 droid and will the phone be the same but with more customization?

Rooting will not cause "annoying issues", all apps should work on 2.2 unless specifically for 2.1, ect.

And yes, you can customize the hell out of it.
