Latest rumor is is that, Razor, which bought Nextbit is prepping to launch an Android smartphone optimized specifically for gaming.

Once, smartphones optimized for better pictures was not a thing and today we rely heavily on cameras.

So, will this be something similar to that? Will you get one?

it depends on what "optimized for gaming" means, weather more powerful hardware (CPUs/Gpus) which is not possible as samsung htc oneplus are already using the latest SOCs out there, or it's just more battery capacity and stuff.

Samsung already optimizes for games and let's you tweek settings to improve performance. Wonder if this will have a physical design that works well for games, that would be unique. Or something with a massive battery.

Wouldn't that just be a SHIELD phone?

I think I'd for sure check it out, but my handheld gaming is really, really Nintendo-based. And if I'm not holding my DS, I'm gaming on a console. For some reason, I just can't transfer that affection over to my smartphone. I mean, don't get me wrong, I sometimes download and play the odd game or two; but I'm not sure if a phone specifically for gaming would be something I'd want. However, I'd certainly try it out and would appreciate its significance. Who knows, maybe I'd buy it! It all depends on how it works and if I'd find other uses for it as well as gaming (for example, since this phone would be focused on gaming, it'd have awesome display and audio qualities; meaning I could watch Netflix on it perfectly).

I definitely would, especially if it has AKG/JBL speakers, a fast SoC, lots of RAM, and a 4K AMOLED screen.

With devices like the LG V30, Galaxy Note 8, Google Pixel 2 ect, all running Snapdragon 835 processors or better, with fantastic gaming performance and even VR performance. I'm not sure how the device will be any better. I play games now and then but I would rather get a Gaming PC with a 27" monitor than play games on a 5.5" inch screen. 😃

I just got the S8+ so not in the market right now for a new smartphone but I can't wait to hear about the new Razer phone more!!! It sounds like it's gonna be a monster!!!

Here's the rumored specs of the rumored Razer phone:

5.72-inch IGZO display with 120 Hz refresh rate and Wide Colour Gamut (WCG)
Dolby ATMOS sound, dual front-facing speakers and amplifiers (certified by THX)
Dual camera with auto-focus and LED flash (12 MP, F/1.75 wide-angle and 13 MP, F/2.6 zoom camera)
Long-life 4,000 mAh lithium-ion battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+
8 GB RAM – enough for the most demanding games and apps
4G Super-Voice

Checked the video by Android Authority and my impressions were basically OnePlus5 internals with Nova Launcher on top and Samsung style performance customizations for altering clockspeed from max to lower for power saving.

It looks to be a good product, and priced very competitively for all its features.

Just not sure I'd be willing to leave the things on Samsung phones I take for granted gor it. The advantages it poses over a phone like a Note 8 are things that don't concern me personally. But I can see it appealing to a number of people.

No I would not

Yeah, I'm in the same boat here. I don't play enough games to have the need to purchase a device specially aimed at gaming. To be honest, while having a 120ghz screen is fantastic, gaming on say a Galaxy S8 or iPhone 8 is amazing as is and I feel for 99.9% of people, that's certainly good enough. 😃

No, I would not. I don't play any games on my phones. That's just not something that interests me.
