I have a chance to purchase a new in box TF101 and keyboard dock for less than $300.
I currently have an SGS3 on JB and a touchpad running ICS. The touchpad runs fine, 2 day battery life and does pretty much everything i want, i'm just wondering if this transformer would be a good upgrade.

Only if you plan to root and flash custom ROMs. That being said, this tablet has been awesome and has great developer support. I'm running a very stable and smooth jelly bean 4.1.2 ROM. There also some good 4.2.1 ROMs out there but I prefer the stability of 4.1.

I was not impressed with the tablet stock, but it has been a blast since I rooted. Hope that helps.

I don't know if I'd personally spend more than a $100 on an outdated tablet. While it is fantastic for my use and I've had it for a long while, I think money would be better spent on a current model. Of course, that is just my opinion and whatever works best for you or you feel good about doing, is completely up to you!

Like bbarend mentioned, there are a lot of options for the TF101. I've been on the 4.2.1 EOS4 for a few days and I really like the new features. It's dock support is spot-on. There has been a couple sound glitches (sound stops working), but I'm hoping further improvements to the EOS4 build take care of it.
